COSTS AND RATE STRUCTURE:
  
 
Within the constraints of our very remote location, we strive to provide a quality service and infrastructure fitting with an eco-lodge concept and not to be confused with conventional luxury.  Our seemingly high rates should not create expectations of a “luxury service.”  They are based on the following:
  
The cost involved in operating a quality eco-lodge in a very isolated location where we have to generate your own electricity, purify our own water, process our waste water (sewer) and process or evacuate the garbage.  Our electricity and water costs are at least TRIPLE what most hotels pay.
  
The cost involved in housing and feeding our complete staff and the costs of transporting them to and from Panama City.
 
The premium wages we pay our staff for because of the isolation which
are at least 20% more than hotels with normal road access.   
 
The added expense of bringing all our supplies all the way from Panama City and the additional overhead and staff in the city to buy, store, pack and drive those supplies.
  

The need to generate a return on a very expensive construction (over the water in a remote location with no road access).

  
The cost of offering quality meals in two restaurants with a limited staff, again in a remote location where much of our produce has a limited shelf life because of the heat and transportation.
 
A premium of at least 30% one has to pay for lodging in over the water bungalows as compared to land units which is true anywhere in the world.
  
The added expense of having to have an additional staffed office in Panama City for administration and reservations.
 
The extremely high cost of depending on boat transportation in an area where gasoline cost 30% more than in the rest of the country not to mention the very high maintenance and repair cost related to marine transportation.
  
The economics of doing all this with only 6 units dictates the rates we charge and should not create expectations of a “pampered luxury” service which is not congruent with the eco-lodge concept.
