Jungle Walk, Panama, Central America
JUNGLE WALK AT CORAL LODGE

Take a 5 minute boat ride to a local river. From there we walk along the river bank, marveling at the acrobatic kingfishers and flycatchers. Wonder at the Jesus Christ lizards walking on the water, a feat not to be tried by guests. Watch the toucans fly overhead and look for the colourful parrots and parakeets hiding in the treetops.

Alternatively try a jungle walk from the back of the Lodge. Start by dodging the missiles thrown by the raucous howler monkeys. Depending on the time of year take a few minutes to watch the young playing on the top branches, seemingly too fragile to support their weight.

Your guide will point out the interesting indigenous plants and look for wildlife. There are black hawks nesting nearby and you can search for raccoon footprints. Listen for the rustle of leaves as the wild pigs disappear into the undergrowth. Spot the vultures circling high above looking for their next meal.

If you would like something more energetic and adventurous (and muddy!), just ask.
